GMGW-3 Overview

The 3rd AIAA Geometry and Mesh Generation Workshop (GMGW-3) will be held concurrently with the 4th AIAA CFD High Lift Prediction Workshop on January 7, 2022 at the AIAA SciTech Forum in San Diego, CA. These workshops are being conducted different than in the past. Technology Focus Groups (TFGs) have been formed with members and participants from both workshops with the intent to identify and answer key questions of importance to each TFG. By forming TFGs, the workshop organizers hope to accelerate the rate of progress by taking advantage of the collective brain-power within our communities. The eventual goal is to better understand, document, accelerate, and extend our abilities to model and process complex geometry like the High Lift Common Research Model (CRM-HL) and generate meshes that enhance the CFD community's ability to predict high-lift aerodynamics.

Technology Focus Groups

For GMGW-3 and HLPW-4, TFGs have been created for the following topic areas. Information about membership, test cases, and related geometry files are available on each TFG page.

TFGs consist of teams of geometry, meshing, and solver participants that are working together in a collaborative manner in order to address aspects of TFG key questions. Members of TFGs are actively engaged in workshop-related efforts up until the workshop itself (currently slated for AIAA SciTech 2022). Topics that the TFG teams are studying span areas of interest to both workshops. Data generated and collected from these teams will be presented in a combination of joint and individual presentations at the workshops.

Workshop Participation

The time for submitting your intent to participate is now past. Thank you to the community for your overwhelming response to our upcoming workshops. We look forward to seeing the collaborative research that will occur between now and the workshop.

If you were unable to join before the deadline and still plan to perform your own related research, you are welcome to attend the workshop as an observer and join the discussions. Observers need do nothing else at this time.

If you have any questions, please email us at meshingworkshop@gmail.com.
